Week 3 Ways of Conversing

There are many ways to converse with someone. I have different ways of communication with my family and others. When it comes to my mother we usually converse very playfully. We make jokes about each other and laugh and talk. There is also a level of respect. When I talk to my dad its basically always conversations over the phone because he lives in New York. When he came to visit last month, we had a nice talk and he actually cried. Which I have rarely seen before then. I guess that was his way of communicating his feelings. My sister and I talk all the time. She lives here with me so we can talk whenever we want. We talk in a more of a best friend kind of way. We have a lot of girl talk and she is two years older than me. My brother also lives here but we dont talk as much. He is usually in his room playing video games. I talk to him about staying out of trouble and trying to get on the right track. Its hard to talk to teenagers sometimes when they are still in more of a rebellious stage in life. People dont always have to talk to converse with each other. With me and my sister for example, I can just give her a certain look and she will know what I mean. Like if we go somewhere and I am ready to go, I can just look at her or make a gesture and she knows what I am saying. With my mother, if we are having a conversation and I try to lie about something she can just look at my face and know I'm lying. I don’t know what it is she can always tell. There are a lot of people can converse with out actually talking. Like sign language for example. People can go back and forth without ever opening there mouth and saying a word. Facial expressions are also another form of communication. If you see someone with their eyebrows frowned up then its safe to assume that person is mad. You can also tell if a person is very happy without them even saying anything. They may be smiling or just look like they have a glow to them. I can see where Mr. Dara is coming from when he says they communicated musically. I would imagine it would be like listening to the music and getting a vibe from one another from the sounds of the song. Another way people communicate is by mouthing words without speaking them. If a person doesnt want everyone else to hear they can converse this way. Twins also find ways to talk to each other without using words. They can feel what each other is feeling in some cases. If one twin is sad the other twin can sense it. Conversing can be done in a higher stage than just talking. Emotions can be shown without words. Love is another thing that is hard to just communicate through speech. So remember that words aren’t everything. There is much more to communication.

  1. Hello Sirena, you have a very nice name. I really liked your last post about the three different ways for communicating. I was very engaged with your topic because it was like reading my own experience. Let me tell you something about me. I am from PerĂº and my whole family lives there, mom, siblings, nieces, nephews, etc; except for my husband and my little son. The episodes you referred with your sister are exactly what happened with my older sister and me. We just needed a look to know what to say or do, especially in the dating time. Oh, such memories that came to my mind after reading your blog. You know, when you tell about your mom, that is what I think about mothers and after I became mom, I could understand more to mine. My mom even with the thousands of miles that separate us, she knows when I am going through a difficulty or bad situation. That is how you said, a kind of communicate with your loved ones. I believe is like a connection that even without being together, or as you wrote, without saying a word, you know what that person is trying to tell you.
